Mahjong Scoring Rules
Mahjong features various scoring methods depending on the version, but the basic principle remains the same: the more complex the combination, the higher the score.
Basic Scoring Rules:
- Standard win – 10 points.
- Pong of dragons or winds – 10-20 points.
- Pure hand (all tiles of the same suit) – 40-80 points.
- Special hands (e.g., all pongs) – 50+ points.
- Self-drawn Mahjong (winning without taking tiles from others) – score multiplier x2.
When a player wins, the remaining participants either pay points to the winner or follow the betting system in play. Different Mahjong versions may have unique scoring rules, but the general concept is simple: the player with the most valuable hand or the first to declare ‘Mahjong’ is the winner!
More points - more chances to win money!
